I had no real plan so it was no surprise nothing much happened . In hindsight it was THE definition of vanity publishing ... I was spending my own money to publish my photos for no other purpose than to stroke my ego. I had an excuse though ... it was early days on the internet and we were all still learning. What's really sad to see these days though, is how many photographers are still doing the exact same thing .
And it's so unnecessary. There is a wealth of information available to help people do it right and getting online is so much cheaper, easier and faster now than it was back then.
It was good for my ego but it certainly wasn't achieving anything. Part of that was because hardly anyone one was online back then, but mostly it was because I had no clear vision of what I was trying to achieve with it.

And here's the important part ... I've been there, but I'm not there anymore. I set up my first photographer website back in 1997 ... and it barely registered a hit until 1998 . Looking back it's actually kind of funny how excited I'd get when I realized one solitary person somewhere had found my website and taken a look at some of my photos.
